We are extremely pleased and proud with the GCSE outcomes of the year 11 students who picked up their results today. We saw a record number of grade 9’s awarded to Warblington students – a reward for their hard work and resilience. We have been pleased that our English and Maths results built on their performance last year, with the average outcome in each subject being a strong grade 4 and continuing to be in line with national statistics. Science saw significant improvements on previous years, with Biology improving by 6% from last year. Over half the students who took individual sciences received a 7 or better. Dance results continued to be strength, despite the grade boundary changes, with over a quarter of the students achieving a distinction or better.
We are very proud of all our students, but need to particularly recognise a few stand out performances in particular Libby Place who achieve eight grade 9’s and a distinction*, with Charlotte Bruce, Ruby Blake and Olivia Bailey also achieving large numbers of 8’s and 9’s in their subjects. An incredible achievement! Indeed, 10% of this cohort achieved a 7 or better in both their English and their maths. Alex Savidge is the young man who made the most progress during his time with us – achieving a grade and a half better than expected from him – reward for his hard work and perseverance.
We congratulate all of year 11 and wish them every success in their future!
