Exam Information
All students must attend in full school uniform. The school will be providing students with a pencil case this year, however, students can still provide their own equipment if they wish. This equipment must be brought in a transparent case. Any water brought into the exam must also be in a clear bottle with no labels.
Students are not permitted to bring notes, mobile phones, wrist watches or any other electronic devices into the exam hall. These are forbidden and must be left in students’ bags during the exam. All bags will be held in the Head of House office this year. If a student is found with any of these items on their person in the exam hall, it is deemed malpractice and their grade in that exam could be affected or compromised.

Below are some useful resources, including websites for colleges and apprenticeship programs, to help you get started on your journey:
Tomato Time
Tomato Time, also known as the Pomodoro Technique, can be a highly effective tool for exam revision. This method involves working in focused intervals, typically 25 minutes, followed by a 5-minute break. After completing four cycles, you take a longer break. By dividing your study sessions into manageable chunks, it prevents burnout and helps maintain concentration over longer periods. This can be especially useful when tackling overwhelming amounts of material, as it encourages you to focus intensely for short periods without feeling drained.
For exam preparation, the Pomodoro Technique also helps reduce procrastination and distractions. Knowing that a break is coming soon allows you to stay focused on the task at hand, whether it’s practising past papers or revisiting key topics. Additionally, it offers a structured way to plan your revision. By alternating between study and break times, you can cover more material while allowing your brain time to absorb and retain information.
Revision Schedules
Creating a structured exam revision timetable is key to effective study, allowing you to manage your time efficiently and cover all necessary material without feeling overwhelmed. By dividing your revision into smaller, focused sessions, you can prioritize subjects that need more attention and allocate time based on difficulty or exam dates. A good timetable should be realistic, with built-in breaks to prevent burnout and maintain productivity. Breaking tasks into manageable chunks makes the study process less daunting and helps you stay on track.
One of the biggest benefits of a revision timetable is that it provides a clear roadmap to follow, reducing procrastination. Knowing what to study each day helps avoid wasting time deciding what to do next. By planning, you can also ensure that you incorporate a variety of study techniques, such as past paper practice, flashcards, and review sessions. A well-thought-out timetable also allows for flexibility, meaning you can adjust if something takes longer than expected or if you need more review time before exams.
Active Learning
Active learning is an engaging and effective approach to exam revision, as it encourages deeper understanding and retention of information compared to passive methods like reading or highlighting. By actively participating in the learning process—through techniques like self-quizzing, summarizing concepts, or teaching the material to others—you reinforce knowledge in a more meaningful way. Active learning helps improve recall because it challenges you to process and apply the information, leading to better understanding and long-term retention.
This approach can also enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are essential for exams. Techniques like creating mind maps, participating in study groups, or using active recall (testing yourself on what you’ve learned without looking at your notes) can significantly boost your performance. The key benefit is that it keeps you engaged with the material, preventing the mind from wandering and helping you identify gaps in your knowledge more efficiently.
Online Resources
Using online resources for revision can be an excellent way to diversify learning and find materials tailored to your specific needs. There is a wide range of resources available that cater to different subjects, study techniques, and learning styles. From interactive quizzes to video tutorials and past papers, these resources can provide additional support outside of textbooks. They allow students to learn at their own pace, revisit challenging topics, and engage with interactive content like educational games, which can make studying more enjoyable.
