Warblington School
At Warblington School, we’re proud to offer a rich and varied PE curriculum that provides our students with unique opportunities to develop their physical, social and emotional skills. Our dedicated PE team delivers a wide range of initiatives designed to promote fitness, teamwork and personal growth, ensuring every student can find something they enjoy and excel in.
The information shared here is based on our comprehensive PE Handbook, which outlines each initiative in detail and helps us maintain clear and consistent communication with our students, families and visitors.
Sports Days
All students participate in the inter-house competitions. Whilst the main goal is participation, students also have the opportunity to compete and break prestigious school records. In doing so, students names will appear in the PE area developing personal pride and admiration for peers. A variety of activities are provided to students to ensure that it is accessible for all.
Following Sports Days, the PE department host a Sports Day results assembly where students are celebrated in front of peers and staff. This provides another opportunity to increase students self-esteem and respect for others, whilst instilling community spirit within house teams.
National Schools Sports Week
Warblington participate in National Schools Sports Week providing all students with the opportunity to participate in a variety of engaging activities. This is achieved through collaboration with local clubs to provide opportunities before, during and afterschool each day. These have included attending Havant Leisure Centre, Rowing and UV Dodgeball. Further examples include martial arts and yoga sessions demonstrating the variety of sessions available to students.
As well as increasing student participation, the week also provides a platform to educate students. This has been achieved with elite sportsmen and sportswomen; in addition to local support groups informing students of how the menstrual cycle impacts participation. Local colleges provide performance analysis sessions to support KS4 examined PE groups improving pupil progress.
The impact of Sports Week is that all members of staff and students are provided with a wide range of opportunities to promote participation in health and fitness activities. Due to the community links, this ensures that engagement is not limited to school and can greatly influence participation beyond Warblington. Social skills are also developed as a result of the extra-curricular opportunities.
Sports Awards Evening
Sports Awards Evening celebrates all students who have engaged in extra-curricular activities at Warblington School and have represented a team within the academic year. Staff, students, parents/carers and local community members attend the annual event to recognise and reward students for their commitment and progress.
Photographs of individual students and teams feature in the programme along with a season report to inform attendees. A PowerPoint is created to recognise and reward all students with sporting colours which they can proudly wear on their blazers thereafter. In addition to this, a group of students are also celebrated due to their application within learning environments.
Each year over 300 community members attend the event; demonstrating the impact of such occasion uniting the community to celebrate students of Warblington School. An external sportsman and/or sportswoman present the awards to inspire all involved. The event ensures that all students are celebrated by peers, staff and family members to promote student self-esteem.

The Sports Council consist of students between year 7-10 who form a leadership group that support the PE department to aid the development of the subject.
All students are informed of such opportunity within an assembly and complete the application process to indicate interest. Students are recognised as Sports Council members with their badges and regularly attend meetings to discuss Physical Education.
The impact of such student body is that leadership opportunities are created for a group of like minded students to create a community to promote change. Extra-Curricular Provision
The extra-curricular timetable is presented to all students in the PE area and is also available to parents/carers in the weekly newsletter. At least one extra-curricular club is provided to students every day, and the introduction of morning clubs ensures that the provision is inclusive. Attendance to clubs is monitored, and a typical week would have a minimum of 100 students engaging in extra-curricular clubs. Each student receives 5 house points for their commitment.
A new ‘invitation’ initiative has been introduced to engage staff and develop staff-student relationships. The impact of extracurricular provision is that students are provided with opportunities to develop their technique and understanding of units of work to promote progress. Students’ relationships within and between year groups, alongside leadership skills, also develop.
We are proud that during a time when attracting students to extra-curricular clubs is proving more and more difficult across the country, we still have 276 year 7-year 10 students engaged with extra-curricular provision within the 2024-2025 academic year. 77 of these students were PP, and 39 of these students were SEND.

Staff are informed of all home fixtures in the morning briefing to maximise staff engagement and to positively influence staff-student relationships. Students who represent the school are invited along with their friends and family to receive sporting colours. In addition to this, students may receive 1st, 2nd or 3rd place for the team which they have represented and be awarded with a trophy or medal.
The impact of students representing Warblington School in fixtures is that it provides additional opportunities for students with no cost barrier. It also provides competition against peers, developing teamwork and leadership skills. Due to the PE behaviour policy, fixtures promote positive and courteous behaviour and instil a sense of pride.
