Year 10

In KS4, we have recently introduced two curriculum pathways to ensure all students have the opportunity to study a language for 5 years.

Pathway 1: GCSE

The majority of students will follow a GCSE pathway in which they develop their skills in the areas assessed at GCSE: reading, listening, writing and speaking. They will study the subjects through half termly modules in which they learn about specific topic vocabulary and transferable skills.

These modules, amongst others, include:

Free time -

Holidays -

My Personal World -

Studying -

My Future -

For this pathway, there is a requirement for students to learn and possess a range of key vocabulary and home learning will support this.

Pathway 2: Wjec Languages

In this pathway, students will study French in one year and Spanish in the second. Through each year, students will build a portfolio of evidence towards a Level 1 certificate in the target language. They will focus on education and employment to develop their functional skills and confidence in the language.

This pathway has been carefully designed to cater for less confident linguists to give everyone the opportunity to be successful in their MFL journey.
