Photography

Year 10

Students who have chosen Photography for a GCSE option will have a brief ‘Introduction to Photography’, which covers the basic elements of Photography and Photoshop. They will also be working on a series of shorter projects related to the theme of ‘PLAY’. Their first project, ‘Movement’ allows them to develop their ideas and techniques, while being introduced to Light Painting, and Continuous Shooting Mode Photography. The student’s ‘portfolio’ is 60% of the final grade for the course. The subject is coursework heavy and requires students to work with a proficient level of independence in developing ideas through practical exploration.

Year 11

In the second year of the GCSE course, students have one more project to complete, ‘Structures, and then after their PPE in January they are given their GCSE Exam paper in which they chose a theme, and then have 12 weeks to independently develop ideas relating to their theme before the 10-hour practical exam in April.
