Year 10
Students who have chosen Photography for a GCSE option will have a brief ‘Introduction to Photography’, which covers the basic elements of Photography and Photoshop. They will also be working on a series of shorter projects related to the theme of ‘PLAY’. Their first project, ‘Movement’ allows them to develop their ideas and techniques, while being introduced to Light Painting, and Continuous Shooting Mode Photography. The student’s ‘portfolio’ is 60% of the final grade for the course. The subject is coursework heavy and requires students to work with a proficient level of independence in developing ideas through practical exploration.
Year 11
Students that have opted for the subject begin their first portfolio project which is on the theme of ‘PLAY’ and may start the second within the year. Both comprise 60% of the final grade for the course and it is therefore imperative that students appreciate the need to stay up to date with the work and its presentation. The subject is coursework heavy and requires students to work with a proficient level of independence in developing ideas through practical exploration, much of which needs to happen beyond lessons.
